Yobe SEMA with support from IOM_UN Migration successfully conducted a 2-day Capacity Building Workshop on Emergency Preparedness.

The capacity building on Emergency Preparedness and Contingency plan is aimed at

1.Enhancing understanding of key principles and best practices in emergency preparedness and response.

2.Assessing current emergency preparedness capacities

3. Identifying gaps

4.Developing strategies and action plans to improve emergency preparedness at the state and LGA levels.

5. fostering collaboration and coordination among stakeholders involved in emergency management.

The participants include the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of twelve (12) Flood Prones LGA in Yobe State, Line MDAs (including Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs, Water Resources, Health, Environment, NiMET, SEMA, RUWASA, YEMABUS, Yobe SRRT, UN-OCHA, UN-FAO, NGOs, Food Security, Health and WaSH Sectors).

At the end of the workshop, the participants developed a refined respective Emergency Preparedness Plan and identified specific actions and responsibilities to strengthen Emergency Preparedness in various locations in Yobe State.
