Yobe Flash Flood Updates

A Total of 10  LGAs reporting new incidents  of flood in Yobe State: Damaturu, Yunusari, Fika, Geidam, Karasuwa, Jakusko, Yusufari, Bade, Potiskum and Nangere LGAs. Based on the preliminary reports, the worst affected locations includes Bulajaji (58 HH) and Jebuwa (34 HH, 3 dead) in Maimalari and Jebuwa wards respectively of Yusufari LGA (92 HH), and Potiskum town in Potiskum LGA. 
The assessment is still ongoing  in Bade, Jakusko, Potiskum, Nangere and Karasuwa in ongoing. However, 4 persons (3 Adult women, and 1 girl) from Danchua in Danchuwa/Bula ward and Ramin in Dogonini ward in Potiskum LGA and Kanda in Tikau ward of Nangere LGA were currently at the Specialist Hospital Potiskum receiving free treatment.
Other locations includes Gabai, in Gabai ward, Damaturu LGA with 47 HH affected, Toshia (38 HH) in Yunusari LGA, Gadaka (33 HH, so far) in Fika LGA, and Geidam LGA (7 communities) with many HH reported.
3 Persons have so far reported Died And 4 Injured as Potiskum Graveyard and Other Communities Were Hit By Heavy Rainfall /Flood. 
The Executive secretary of SEMA while commiserating with victims said “While this are trying moments for both victims and community gatekeepers, we wish to Commiserate with Victims and assure them of Government commitment to respond to their plights.
Response is being prioritised based on severity and needs with first line attention giving to SAVING LIVES, EVACUATION and ENSURING WOMEN AND CHILDREN have something to eat while infrastructure is being looked at”
