World Food Program WFP to Compliment Yobe State Government, Supports over 1190 windstorm Victims (over 6000 individuals) with 3 Months Food Basket.

Following heavy windstorm of 9th June 2022 that affected over 11 communities in Damaturu the state capital and subsequent directives by His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni to ensure resources are mobilised to cushion victims hardship, SEMA after assessment and validation of Victims supported 45% with first line support (FI, NFI and Building Materials).
While this is ongoing, WFP a food security partner in the state complimented Government effort by providing 3 months food basket to 1190 victims (over 6000 Individuals). This is inline with its mandate and effort to support IDPs in host communities and victims in Emergency needs.
While flagging-off the distribution in Sumsumma Community, SEMA Thank WFP for this timely response as “this will go along way providing succour to victims while they go out to work and rebuild thier homes”.
The head of WFP Mrs Anita while presenting the items alongside WFP CPs (COOPI) confirmed that each household will get a Bag of Sorghum, Pulses, Salt and Vegetables oil monthly for 3 months ( June, July and August).
ES SEMA assured WFP of monitoring distribution and called on COOPI to be accountable in distribution and as well warn beneficiaries not to sale any item given to them.
