WFP-UN supports Yobe IDPs (New Arrivals)

Yobe State Emergency Management Agency in the last 3 weeks recieved influx of IDPs from neighboring Borno State.
Majority ot the new arrivals are from Magumeri, KAGA, Konduga and Damboa LGAs of Borno State.
SEMA alongside security and Host LGA (Damaturu) representatives profiled the new arrivals in an effort to integrate them into the Host community, find solace for them and cushion the hardship they fave until security improves for their return.
In line with Governor Bunis directive, less than 48 post registration, the elderly and pregnant women as well as HH with Under 5 were immediately supported with food basket.
In a similar response to key in to Governor Bunis reintegration and Recovery response, WFP, a key partner in food security Sector also mobilised resources in line with its mandate and available funds to support the new arrivals.
WFP and thier IPs alongside SEMA validated IDPs data and responded accordingly to over 3000 new arrivals.
While presenting the food baskets to the beneficiaries, SEMA called on the new arrivals to be law abiding while residing within the host community and further informed them of Governor Bunis commitment to come to the aid of the vulnerables all time.
SEMA wish to thank WFP-UN and all patners who keyed in to the Government plan and respond to new arrivals and other reintegration and recovery process. We will continue providing the enabling space for partners to operate.
