The 170 Female Entrepreneurs trained from Potiskum and Nangere LGAs have started recieving Alert of 150,000 Cash Grant.

In a significant development for local entrepreneurship, 170 female entrepreneurs from Potiskum and Nangere Local Government Areas (LGAs) have begun receiving alerts for their ₦150,000 cash grants. This initiative, in line with the policy directives of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, aims to boost their businesses and increase household incomes.
On August 22, 2024, these young entrepreneurs underwent a week-long training and profiling process for the start-up grant. Today, the beneficiaries have started receiving their grants, which are expected to enhance their business operations and help meet their basic needs.
In addition to their vocational skills, the women received training in financial literacy, savings, and other essential business skills. This comprehensive approach ensures that they are well-equipped to manage and grow their enterprises sustainably.
During a communication with the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), one of the beneficiaries expressed her gratitude, stating, “Sir, this is the highest amount of money I have ever seen in my life, and Insha Allah, I will triple it by this time next year.”
The Executive Secretary commended all partners involved, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the implementing partner, Portrait of Lake Child Initiative. He also appreciated the timely implementation of the activity and assured continuous collaboration in line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s policy direction.
This initiative represents a crucial step towards empowering women entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth, and promoting social cohesion within the community.
