SUBSIDY REMOVAL: YOBE STATE PALLIATIVE DISTRIBUTION UPDATE
Following the constitution of state level palliative committee by His Excellency, the executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni on the Wednesday 26th July 2023 to cushion the economic effect as a result of removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
As part of the committee’s terms of references: it is imperative to update the public on progress and efforts made so far and stepwise approaches adopted by the committee to deliver on this important public task.
1. The committee has so far carried an in-depth assessment of the areas of intervention; identified vulnerable persons; type of interventions and has developed an accountability mechanism to ensure that intervention reaches aproximately 400,000 households within the government available resources
2. Palliative distribution was flagged off by His Excellency in Damaturu on Thursday 10th August 2023. Similar distribution event was held in Fune and Jakusko on 12th and 15th August 2023 in accordance with state palliative committee schedule of distribution.
SO FAR, ONLY IN THREE 3 LGAs OF DAMATURU, FUNE AND JAKUSKO PALLIATIVE WAS DISTRIBUTED UNDER PHASE-1, ON BEHALF OF YOBE STATE GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTED PALLIATIVE COMMITTEE AS PER DETAILS ATTACHED
3. The committee is currently finalizing logistics to commence similar palliative distribution in Potiskum, Gulani and Bade LGAs in phase-2 in accordance with approved state palliative distribution plan.
In view of the above, the general public are hereby informed of progress update, and equally important the public are encouraged to desist from peddling rumors as the committee are tirelessly working to mobilize more resources and build partnerships for the benefit of citizens across the state in an equitable and dignified manner of distribution.
Nigerian Labour Congree, Civil Society Organisation, Traditional and Religious leaders, Youth and Women Group, security and other stakeholders at each LGA are dully briefed before comencement.
We are in trying moments, any support by individuals groups or organisations at any level to support vulnerable persons is encouraged.
