 SEMA VISITS GEIDAM AND GULANI FOR AND VULNERABILITY     ASSESSMENT RESPECTIVELY.

   Following a distress call by Hon. Member Representing the Good People of Geidam II in Yobe State House of Assembly and Hon Commissioner of transport on need to respond to the plights of flood victims in Geidam and Some vulnerable population affected by Flood residing Close to River Bank of Garin Sarkin Noma Village of Gulani, SEMA as directed by His Excellency Governor Buni mobilised team to the field concurently to assess and come up with data for timely response.
21 communities across 4 wards (Maanna, Gumsa, Kusur Damakarwa ward) in Geidam with a total population of 496 HH were affected with farmlands in Geidam as a result of over flow of river Kumudu Gana. The needs and gaps include those who are temporarily Displaced, those who for the fear of the flood coming down to their locations and as well those who were trapped and can only stay in temporary high land areas. While effort is being intensified to relocate victims, temporary canoes and first line support is currently mobilised to support affected communities.
In Gulani LGA, garin Sarkin Noma Village situated on River Gongola shore through Bajoga of Funakaye Local Government Area. Over 130 Household in the Village were affected by Flood, leading to temporary Displacement and inability to continue farming in that location.
While efforts is being intensified to support affected communities, stakeholders at various locations are called to continue sensitizing public on the need to be alert and move to safer locations as the rain and water flow increases.
