SEMA held Stakeholders Engagement Meeting in Potiskum ahead of Palliatives Distribution.

Yobe State Emergency Management Agency today 25th August 2023 held a Stakeholders meeting in Potiskum LGA led by the LGA chairman Hon Salisu Muktari Bello in Potiskum.
The meeting amongst other issues aims at ensuring Accountability to Affected Population AAP by discussing modalities set on ground to support the vulnerable populations.

Executive Secretary SEMA while giving opening remarks, briefed the Stakeholders on SEMA mode of operation, disaster response and aproach to supporting communities affected by disaster as well as limitations and new innovations in line with Governor Bunis Emergency Response Plan.

On the upcoming Paliatives distribution, just like other supports coming in to Potiskum, the ES SEMA said ” this are trying moments and no amount of support to a vulnerable and needy person is too small, he urge community leaders to pray and hope that the end result of the Subsidy removal benefits the nation”

About 6800 VULNERABLE PERSONS from over 60 communities across 10 wards, with teachers from Primary, secondary schools, PLWD, LGA staff, members of Market Unions, GSM sellers and repairs vendors, NURTW, Orphanages, widows amongst the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries were selected by independent team with the support of District Heads and Village, religious leaders and elderstatemen.

Present at the event are Chairman of PDP, APC, representatives of Islamic scholars and CAN respectively gave their remarks and inputs on the distribution process.

Executive Secretary YOSEMA informed the gathering that each beneficiary amongst the 6800 will go home with atleast 20kg of Food Basket and beneficiaries list will be shared with their respective community leaders for verification

The chairman Potiskum LGA while giving closing remarks assured community leaders that he will continue to advocate for more resources and support to Potiskum especially looking at the population of Potiskum compared to other LGAs.
