Action Against Hunger Support 360 flood Victims from Potiskum and Fika LGA.
Over 360 Households from 12 Communities across 6 wards in Potiskum and Fika LGA received Shelter and NFI kits as part of Post Flood Recovery efforts of Yobe state Emergency Management Agency
The Support was provided by Action Against Hunger, one of the key INGO supporting and complementing Government effort in the 2022 flood response.
The communities supported are:
1. Arikime
2. Gongola
3. Fara-Fara
4. Arjali
5. Ngojin
6. Damboa
7. Bedu
8. Sabuwar Kwata
9. Savanna
10. Unguwar Bolewa
11. Dadin Kowa
12. Kukuwale
13. Ngalda
Items distributed per Households include shelter kits and combination of Normal NFIs
1. bundles of Zinc
2. Pcs of Woods
3. Bags cement
4. Roofing nails
5. Package of Normal NFIs.
Some of the victims are temporary taking refuge in Camp (Newly Constructed estate (along Damaturu – Kano, by pass Potiskum). The victims who are optimistic that this support will enable them rebuild their homes and return to their communities of origin.
The LGA team thank the owners of the new estate for providing the flood victims with temporary shelter and at the same time applauded AAH for the timely support.
Executive secretary of SEMA who was ably represented while thanking AAH assured victims that government will continue to mobilize and source support to Fastrack the reintegration post 2022 flooding.
AAH while delivering the items, thank Governor Mai Mala Buni CON for providing the enabling environment to operate and deliver their mandate, they further assured SEMA that another set of 270 victims will benefit from the NFIs in the coming days.
Victims thank Government for not forgetting them, Mallam Garba said “since the flood ended we thought government has forgotten us, until last week when SEMA came in for registration, we thank Gomna Mai Mala and will continue praying for him”.
