
GOVERNOR BUNI COMMISERATES WITH LIKDIR AND BUNI GARI VICTIMS OF FLOODING
In the Early hours of Saturday (SALLAH DAY) around 1am, a heavy downpour occurred that resulted into flooding in 3 communities of Gujba and Gulani LGAs (Likdir, Buni Gari and Kukuwa Tasha).
The unfortunate flooding has resulted in displacing over a 100 households who are currently taking refuge in public schools and with family relatives. The Executive Secretary of SEMA who visited the affected communities and victims, Commiserates with them on behalf of Yobe State Government and assured them of state government immediate relief support.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA further informed the LGA Chairman on the need to relocate the victims to upperland areas to avoid more damage as the rainy season is just setting in and the locations have been identified as high risk to flooding.
Preliminary reports indicates that in Kukuwa 120 Households were affected with 90% of 264 rooms completely destroyed. Sadly 2 lives were lost as a result of the incident.
While SEMA is responding to distress calls with reports on flooding and flood damage across different locations, SEMA wish to appeal to community leaders to carry out some precautionary measure by clearing of blocked drainages, there by reducing the impact of flood.

Regrettably, 3 people died in the incident, with lots of farm produced and community food reserves wasted as a result of the flooding. The ES SEMA extended His Excellency’s deepest condolence to the deceased families and prayed that Almighty Allah grant repose to the departed souls and give their various families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lost of their love ones.
