
Nguru Market Fire Incident
On 18th of May 2021, we received a distress call about a fire outbreak that affected 4 shops at Nguru local government market place. The owners of shops are bread winners catering for the lives of over 25 people. The affected victims include, Musa Sale, Alhaji Bala, Ibrahim Mohammed and Felix Eze.
As directed by His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, prompt assessment was conducted by SEMA alongside the Nguru LGA team. Subsequently, the aforementioned businessmen and their dependents were identified as belonging to the vulnerable category.
Thus, the shops were rapidly renovated within a period four days. Today Sunday 23 of May 2021, marks the handover date. In a nutshell, the shops have already been renovated and handed over to their respective owners.
While handing over the renovated shops, SEMA team and Nguru LGA chairman, called upon the public to continue been vigilant and to ensure all necessary fire safety precautions are being taken day-in-day-out. It is worth mentioning that, ensuring electric appliances are properly switched off and insulated, avoiding accumulations of combustible rubbish, and never storing flammable or combustible rubbish, are a few of the most important fire safety precautions.
