Over 31,000 House Holds in Yobe across 258 Communities from 17 LGA were affected by the 2022 flooding. The cases recorded covers victims of windstorm, heavy downpour and flooding due to rain water or over flow of dams and rivers.
His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON directed SEMA to ensure victims are profiled accordingly and supported within available resources, he further called on partners, NEMA and other relevant oragns to key in to his administration flood response plan by complementing Government effort and ensuring gaps are closed.
From May 2022 to date, while assessment is ongoing, victims are supported across different lication with one form of response or the other depending on availability of resources and vulnerability of the victims.
While the cases are on the increase, priority is given to health response, evacuation, warning alert, first line Food Basket, Building materials and in some cases CASH STIMULUS to victims.
At the moment worse hit location are Jakusko, Bade and Geidam LGAs. Assessment is currently ongoing profilling victims and ascertaining their needs which will be used to make informed decision and response.
Today 9th Oct 2022, over 150 victims from the 2800 registered flood victims in Buni Yadi were successfully supported with Food Items and Buildings materials with the support of
Nema Northeast .
While presenting the items to Mairi Flood Victims in Buni Yadi, the Executive Secretary SEMA assured other victims across all locations of Governor Bunis derivatives to reach them accordingly.
Beneficiaries were further called not to sale items given to them and ensure they are used for the intended purpose.
