LGAs BEGIN DISTRIBUTION OF GOVERNOR BUNI’S RAMADAN FOOD BASKET
Local Government Areas (LGAs) across Yobe State have commenced the distribution of food consignments under the Ramadan Food Basket program, an initiative spearheaded by Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON. This program is a key part of the governor’s commitment to supporting the less privileged during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Ramadan Food Basket, launched on 4th March 2025, aims to provide relief to 30,000 vulnerable households and other disadvantaged groups across the state. LGA leaders are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the food items are distributed efficiently and reach the intended beneficiaries in their respective communities.
Promoting Food Security and Alleviating Hardship
This distribution is part of a larger strategy to alleviate hunger and improve food security among vulnerable populations. It complements the ongoing Ramadan feeding programs, which have expanded from 85 to 102 feeding centers across the state, including new locations in health institutions. With ₦297 million allocated to these programs, the state government aims to provide meals to the less privileged during this sacred month.
A Collaborative Effort
Governor Buni emphasized the collective responsibility required to support those in need, urging all stakeholders to demonstrate transparency, fairness, and the fear of Allah in carrying out the distribution. This initiative reflects the values of generosity and kindness that define Yobe State’s people and underscores the government’s commitment to easing the plight of its residents during Ramadan.
Continuing Welfare Efforts
In addition to the Ramadan Food Basket, the government continues to implement long-term welfare and empowerment programs, including flood relief initiatives, erosion control projects, and economic recovery plans. These efforts exemplify Governor Buni’s dedication to enhancing the lives of Yobe State’s residents, not only during Ramadan but throughout the year.
