HOPE RESTORED AS GOVERNOR BUNI EXTENDS MORE LIFELINE TO POTISKUM PHONE CENTRE VICTIMS
In a continued show of support for victims of the Potiskum Phone Centre Market incident, His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON has continued with a multi-phase relief package to help affected individuals and families recover and rebuild.
Following the Governor’s earlier directive and disbursement of an initial ₦10 million cash stimulus, additional unconditional cash disbursements and food baskets are now being distributed post-assessment. The support is being rolled out in phases: bank transfers, direct cash disbursement, and a combination of cash with food items.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, commended the leadership of Potiskum LGA and the Potiskum Phone Centre (PPC) for their cooperation and resilience. He noted that their coordination made the smooth and transparent distribution of relief items possible.
Dr. Goje further revealed that more support is expected, underscoring Governor Buni’s commitment to not only helping victims recover but also to improving market infrastructure and mitigating future risks.
Echoing this sentiment, the Vice Chairman of Potiskum LGA described Governor Buni as a youth-friendly leader who has once again demonstrated compassion and leadership by bringing hope back to the predominantly youth-led Phone Centre.
In a heartfelt message, the Chairman of the PPC thanked Governor Buni for his unwavering support and urged the government to expedite the relocation and fencing of a permanent site for the Phone Centre Market to ensure greater security and organization.
