Dr Abubakar Garba Iliya the Hon. Com MHADM with representative of SEMA, Gujba LGA, religious and community leaders and Implementing Partners the UNDP today commissioned the newly constructed and equipped Skill Acquisition center in Buni Yadi.
The project is part of Governor Bunis post conflict reintegration process implemented through partnership with UNDP in the S2R Project (Strengthening Reconciliation and Reintegration) in the Northeast of Nigeria, partnership between UNDP/IOM/UNICEF.
Gujba skill aquisition center is a community social impact component of the project and is done in collaboration with the community staekeholders, social cohesion platform mebers and state government to provide a means for people to learn, while offering individualised support to maximise their potential to participate in social, occupational, and educational activities. The services offered will provide the community with avenues to maximise social inclusion and promote peaceful coexistence and social cohesion.
The center will organize trainings in which participants will register to enroll and acquire skills of different kinds (Tailoring, Grinding, Local pasta making, Hair dressing and Men barbing, GSM repairs, Knitting, Embroidering amongst others.
While delivering the Commissioners speech, the Perm Sec MHADM applauded UNDPs effort and call on community to utilize this laudable intervention by building skills for economic diversification and called on the LGA to ensure continuous monitoring.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA on his part inform beneficiaries and donors that, usage will be monitors and accountability process instituted for positive outcome to meet the objectives of the S2R project and call on community leaders that on no occasion should any machine/equipment be taken out of the skill center, rented or otherwise.
