Gov. Buni Launches ₦300 Million Micro Enterprises Grants for Displaced Malum Dunari Community

The Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has launched the disbursement of ₦300 million Micro Enterprises Grants to 1,500 beneficiaries* from the displaced community of Malum Dunari in Gujba Local Government Area.
Malum Dunari is the ONLY ward that is yet to be resettled fully since their displacement as a result of conflict.

Governor Buni described the intervention as a clear demonstration of his administration’s commitment to recovery, stabilization, and durable solutions for communities affected by insurgency, displacement, and economic disruption.

He noted that the program complements the massive investments already ongoing in agriculture and infrastructure across Gujba Local Government, particularly in Goniri, an immediate host community to Malum Dunari population

“This intervention is another clear demonstration of our administration’s commitment to recovery, stabilization, and durable solutions for communities affected by insurgency, displacement, and economic disruption,” Gov. Buni stated.

Highlighting other development efforts in the area, the Governor said his administration has constructed a new Primary Health Care Centre, provided motorized water boreholes, and installed solar streetlights in Goniri, alongside various community support projects aimed at improving security and overall living standards.

Dr. Goje Mohammed, Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), explained that each beneficiary from Malum Dunari will receive ₦200,000 to restart or expand their micro-enterprises, following rigorous training in small business management and entrepreneurship skills.

The initiative is part of Yobe State’s broader agenda to revive local economies, empower displaced persons, and strengthen community resilience through targeted economic interventions and sustainable livelihood support with support from UNDP and funding from the Regional Stabilization for the Lake Chad region.
The ES SEMA also commended the effort of CCDRN for ensuring that accountability and due diligence are followed in the beneficiary selection and enrolment.
