Earlier in July through August SEMA recieved report of incident of heavy downpour leading to flooding in 17 communities and SEMA alongside LGA conducted assessment and profiled victims accordingly.
Today 16th September 2022, with the support of NEMA relief materials donated by Federal Government of Nigeria to the affected Victims over 400 victims were supported.
Sadly as this response is ongoing, communities earlier assesed due to flood were hit by another flood and the first victims couldn’t even come out to claim their relief items.
SEMA team on ground with support of LGA team are improvising alternative routes to reach the victims, conduct assessment for more support as directed by His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Depending on the severity, Building Materials, NFI and Food items are distributed directly to affected households. SEMA and LGA team in Jakusko will continue to respond to the victims and have since started validation and distribution directly to beneficiaries.
Jakusko LGA and other Stakeholders present commended the government for this timely response and call on victims to utilise this support judiciously as cases of flood are not just local but global this season.
